The Corix team has an opportunity for a Meter and Instrumentation Technician in Cleveland, OH for Cleveland Thermal. This position maintains, installs, troubleshoots, and repairs issues for the Infrastructure and Production needs of Cleveland Thermal. Furthermore, this position ensures that the processes offered to the client; steam distribution and chilled water distribution will meet the client's needs and demands for a clean and reliable source of energy 365 days a year.
This position maintains, troubleshoots, installs, and repairs utility meters and instrumentation for Cleveland Thermal steam and chilled water customers. This position ensures that the processes offered to the client; distributed steam and chilled water, will meet the client's needs and demands for a clean and reliable source of energy 365 days a year. The position will maintain and troubleshoot issues for control systems, metering devices and pressure monitoring equipment.

What you'll do
- Know, practice, and comply with all Company safety and health policies and procedures applicable to work being performed. Writes Safe Job Procedures when requested.
- Conduct daily Job Hazard Assessments (JHA's) and correct and/or communicate problems to employees/supervisor. Immediately reports identified hazards to proper authority.
- Maintain accurate records of instrumentation calibration, repair, and maintenance. Ensures the performance and reliability of Customer billing meter equipment and production instrumentation.
- Install and maintain customer onsite metering and pressure transmitter devices.
- Perform monthly meter readings and support the monthly billing review process.
- Maintain positive relationships with customer building engineers, property managers and maintenance personnel.
- Support the facility production technicians with projects and tasks as needed.
- Set a good example for other employees, customers, and vendors by adhering to the administrating Company policies, promoting, and supporting business philosophies and decisions.
- Document and perform troubleshooting, and repair or replacement of customer billing meters.
- Install, assemble, and program chilled water and steam billing meters in the plant and at customers locations.
- Install, fabricate, and repair instrument tubing and process piping associated with customer billing meters and plant instrumentation.
- Complete all paperwork on time such as (but not limited to) time sheets, logs, daily reports calibration reports and any other reports as requested.
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace including customer sites, plant, shops, offices, and vehicles.
- Present a professional, courteous, neat, clean, conservative image while representing the Company when dealing with visitors, customers, and vendors.
- Respond to emergency call outs and handle emergencies in a calm and professional manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you bring
Experience
- Two to five (2-5) years of on-the-job training in HVAC controls, Meter technologies, Instrumentation, mechanical and/or electrical skills
Education and Certification
- Vocational or high school graduate
- Have a valid Driver's License
- 3rd Class Stationary Engineers license, a bonus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot various components; ability to utilize configuration drawings.
- Ability and desire to learn and advance personal skills and knowledge.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, ladder, wiring, mechanical piping, HVAC, control and logic diagrams proficiently.
- Ability to use various test and measurement instruments (voltage, amperage, resistance, frequency, pressure, temperature, etc.)
- Demonstrated knowledge of flow metering technologies and their proper uses. (Pressure, vortex, magnetic, and ultrasonic flowmeters.
- Knowledge of basic networking (computer, industrial equipment, etc.)
- Experience working with BACnet and Modbus communication protocols.
- Computer skills including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and other applications.
- Knowledge of medium & low voltage systems
- Basic threaded pipe fitting skills
- Experience in understanding/complying with OSHA regulations, safety codes, and safety practices including arc flash; LO/TO; fall protection; hot work; pre-job hazard analysis; etc.
- This job requires standing and walking for long periods of time. Must be able to grasp, reach, twist, climb, bend, and kneel.
- Job requires driving company vehicle from location to location within the Cleveland Thermal system.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs., unassisted.
- Must be able to keep calm under stressful or emergency situations.
- Knowledge of how steam is made including water chemistry and combustion theory.
Please note:
- This will include exposure to large machinery, tight spaces and hazardous conditions associated with these environments. Exposed to steam, electricity/high voltage, hazardous chemicals, extreme cold, and extreme heat, wet, humid, and noisy environment. Must wear hard hat, safety toe shoes/boots, hearing protection, safety glasses, and leather gloves and any other appropriate safety equipment when required; must be OSHA compliant.
