About the Job

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITES:
Knowledge:
• Working knowledge of Client rules and regulations as they pertain to water and current diversion, water and electric consumption, using current without a contract, and all other customer related policies and procedures.
• Basic working knowledge of the methods of electric and water distribution and construction and operations of various metering devices

Knowledge of basic mathematics.
• Knowledge of general maintenance of vehicles.

Skills:
• Accuracy, mental alertness and motor coordination required.
• Will be required to operate and maintain a Client vehicle.

•       Journeyman work experience (utility meters, gas, electric, water, cable, communications).
•       Utility service worker experience (gas, electric, water, cable, communications).
•       Manual laborer experience.
•       Water, electric or gas meter reading experience.
•       Service technician experience.
•       Service technician and customer service experience.
•       12 months of professional driving experience.
•       Route driving experience.
•       Outdoor laborer work experience.
•       Ability to operate PC, laptop, and basic office applications.
•       Work experience that required continuous walking.
•       Basic knowledge of electric and water utility systems.
Here is some information the suppliers can refer to when providing a description for the job assignment.
•       Reading electric and water meters.
•       Work outside in the elements for eight (8) hours a day.
•       They must also be willing to tolerate inclement weather, as meter readings are not canceled for things like rain.
•       Physical requirements include repetitive bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and kneeling and lifting.
•       Regular workdays consist of continuous walking outdoors or driving, or a combination of both.
•       Driving a light duty pick-up daily (F-150 or similar).
•       Data entry of meter reading into a laptop or handheld device.
•       Customer service interaction with the public within company service territory.
•       Digging and cleaning out water meter boxes.
•       Inspecting meters, collecting, and documenting meter readings, and communicating with customers when needed to gain access to their meters.
