A day in the life of an LTI Metallurgical Engineer:
- Performs various types of metallographic testing including, but not limited to: Grain Size, Microstructure, Macrostructure, Surface Contamination/Alpha Case, Decarburization, Intergranular Attack/Oxidation, and Microhardness.
- Predominantly uses light optical microscopy to characterize material properties in a fast-paced laboratory setting.
- Follows applicable specifications and procedures in accordance with ASTM, ASME, AMS, AWS, and Customer supplied standards.
- Completes analyses with minimal direct supervision in an orderly and timely manner to ensure established deadlines are met.
- Understands and complies with LTI’s QA and Safety Program at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- This position requires a combination of education and related experience performing metallurgical or materials testing.
- Bachelor's Degree and minimum of 5 years of experience.
- Experience with SEM/EDS analysis is desired, but not required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Laboratory Management Systems and Software.
- Mechanical aptitude, excellent attention to detail, ability to work in a team environment, ability to multi-task and work intermittently in an up-tempo environment.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder.
