Job Title Metal Fabricator IIIDepartment Fabrication DepartmentReports to Fabrication CoordinatorFLSA Status Non-Exempt Customary Workdays M-F w/ Occasional WeekendCustomary Work Hours 7:00am - 3:30pm (-- hour lunch) w/overtime as required Position SummaryUnder the direction of the Fabrication Coordinator, the Metal Fabricator III will be responsible for production of quality parts, pieces, and/or completed products for any complex projects The Fabricator III will perform work free-hand or utilize fixtures/jigs that have been created Key Functions & ResponsibilitiesDevelop layout and sequence of operations for fabrication and assembling custom structural metal products, applying print reading, mathematics, and knowledge of metals and weldingPosition, align, fit, and weld together parts, using jigs, welding torch, arc welder, and hand toolsVerify conformance of work - piece to specifications using square, ruler, and tape measureFully capable of performing MIG welding with TIG welding as a plusSet up and correctly use shop machines such as welders, oxy/acetylene torch, plasma cutter, metal shear, press brake, and burn tableUtilize all powered and unpowered hand toolsProvide own tools for standard fabricating tasks - specialty tools providedOperate fork trucks and overhead cranesKeep work area and surrounding adequately cleanObserve and follow all safety rules as well as general company rulesSelf-starter attitude and ability to be disciplined, organized, and motivated to perform with little to no direct supervisionCapable of fabricating and assembling a quality productMentor and help guide Metal Fabricator I and IIAdhere to company's safety policies to create a safe work environment for employeesOther duties may be assigned at any timeCompetenciesMaintain high performance standards and have attention for detailMaintain a high level of productivityReliabilityArrive on time and ready to workComplete projects in a timely mannerExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExpress ideas and concerns effectivelyListen to others and be willing to accept guidance from experienced Metal Fabricator III and supervisor/managementBe willing to adapt to changeBe able to deal with diverse peopleTeam PlayerAbility to put group decisions ahead of own personal goalsInteracts and works well with others in a group settingMust maintain a positive attitude Physical DemandsMust be able to stoop, stand, or crouch for extended periods of timeMust be able to push, pull, or lift up to 50lbs EducationRequiredHigh School Diploma or equivalent ExperienceRequiredAt least 6 years on the job of metal fabrication/machine building experiencePreferredAt least 8 years on the job of metal fabrication/machine building experience Equal Opportunity EmployerCapital Industries is an equal opportunity employer.
