THE POSITION
Under the guidance of the Service Director, this role provides mental health counseling and interventions to GP clients in accordance with GP’s mission. This full time, service position is 12 months, 40 hours per week and reports to the Services Director. This position will carry a maximum of 25-client weekly caseload and requires extensive note taking for grant reporting purposes. The mental health counselors office is physically located at the God’s Pantry Care Center in Pomona, California.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES
This position is responsible for the following:
a) Provide excellent client-focus mental health care.
b) Maintaining scheduling of appointments of visits and note-taking.
c) Coordinating care with other services and departments in a holistic approach.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluate client’s needs and create a custom treatment plan.
- Facilitate groups: coping mechanisms related to stress and trauma they encounter.
- Help individuals with the resources needed to reach personal goals.
- Monitor client progress and adjust their service plan as needed.
- Maintain required licensing and certification for the counseling position.
- Coordinate with other providers, agencies and community resources in order to create a thorough treatment plan.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling. Two years of experience is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to empathize with clients.
- Ability to leverage internal and external resources as part of a client treatment plan.
- Experience writing assessments and reports to monitor client progress.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
- Sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment.
- Visual acuity to read words and numbers.
- Speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in-person or over the phone.
- Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force and occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
