WORKING HOURS:
The Mental Health Therapist is an exempt position that provides clinical consultation, crisis intervention, clinical interventions, and case management services to adults and/or youth who need housing resources often due to unmet social, health, and behavioral health needs and may have criminogenic needs. This position has regular business hours but may require work in early mornings, evenings, and weekends. May be required to perform after-hours standby services as needed or some evening work, especially during the winter shelter season.
SUMMARY:
The Mental Health Therapist is an exempt position that is responsible for providing clinical consultation, crisis intervention, clinical interventions, and case management services for Tribal WrapAround clients who have been identified as being high risk for homelessness or is currently homeless. The position responds to crisis intervention by assisting the Team in de-escalating crisis and assessing such crisis for potential hospitalization. Provides clinical consultation to care coordinators under the program. Assist the leadership with establishing and maintaining licensure and accreditation for behavioral health services/clinic.
This position is funded in full or in part through Homeless Housing, Assistance and Prevention (HHAP),Housing and Disability Advocacy Program (HDAP), Bringing Families Home (BFH), Behavioral Health Bridge Housing (BHBH), HomeSafe, Native American Housing Assistance and Self Determination Act (NAHSDA). This position requires licensure as a MSW Clinical Social Worker with the ability to bill out for services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clinical
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation services.
- Provide direct mental health therapeutic services.
- Provide chemical dependency interventions (within scope of licensure).
- Provide group clinical interventions.
- Provide clinical assessments, diagnostic evaluations, psychotherapy, client advocacy and crisis intervention.
- Provide a comprehensive community-based safety plan with innovative strategies to assist the client in being maintained safely in the least restrictive setting.
- Maintain a confidential client record keeping system in accordance with program and state regulations and guidelines.
- Coordinate and facilitate mental health services with area schools, medical facilities, social service agencies and other professional agencies.
- Maintain a professional and cooperative relationship with all programs involved with providing services to the tribal community and partner agency of Tribal WrapAround.
- Provide Tribal WrapAround approach when working with the team and clients.
- Attend intake, supervision, case management meeting and other meetings as requested.
- Provide written and verbal information related to the client's behavioral and mental health based on assessment and contact.
- Participate in continuing educational opportunities, which promote personal and professional growth.
- Shall dress in a respectful manner and maintain a respectful demeanor and presentation at all times.
- Collaborates and partners with inter and intra agencies.
- Submits reports on a timely basis.
- Assists in the development and expansion of the Housing Department and tribal programs as directed.
- Meets with leadership, clinical, and consultation for discussions and clarification on various issues as necessary.
- Attends all required meetings and training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.
- Masters Degree in Social Work - Clinical Tract.
- Full unrestricted license for mental health.
- A Co-occurring Therapist who has a Chemical Dependency licensure is preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of AODA, mental health, and crisis intervention services.
- Honesty, accountability, and transparency with a commitment to social justice.
- Exemplary interpersonal skills: ability to collaborate effectively with culturally diverse staff with demonstrated poise, tact, integrity, and professionalism.
- Excellent crisis de-escalation and communication skills are required.
- Demonstrated intellectual independence and initiative and willingness to learn new skills.
- Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality concerning all matters about the Tribe.
- Extensive knowledge and experience working with Native American communities, culture, customs and cultural law.
TRIBAL AND INDIAN PREFERENCE
Under the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (25 U.S.C. § 450e (b)), the Dry Creek Rancheria applies the policy of "Tribal and Indian Preference" when filling vacancies. EDUCATION:
- This position required full licensure as a MSW Clinician and does not allow for experience in lieu of education.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to speak Pomo is highly desired.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential to the successful conduct of this position.
- Ability to write accurate, grammatically correct, polished reports and business correspondence.
- Must be able to speak with the public professionally.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Must have basic math skills (ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide).
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Must possess a valid California Driver's License with a clean driving record and be insurable under the Tribe's insurance policy.
- MSW Clinical licensure unrestricted required.
- Chemical Dependency licensure preferred in addition to.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
- Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
