About the Job
The Medical Writer is responsible for scientific content development to support the execution of global strategic medical/scientific communication plans related to scientific congresses and publications including, but not limited to, abstracts, posters, peer-reviewed publications, and HCP materials to communicate scientific research/data. Reporting to the Global Director of Scientific Communications and Publications, this role creates critical scientific content in alignment with medical communication publication and congress plans in collaboration with relevant business functions such as Research & Development, Medical Affairs Scientific Research, and Scientific Communications to support the department and organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as primary point of contact for medical writing activities for the Global Scientific Communications team.
- Develop, edit and finalize scientific documents such as, but not limited to, manuscripts for peer-reviewed journal publications, abstracts, posters, and slide decks for congress/conference presentations.
- Collaborate with peer writers and colleagues from other departments to deliver quality scientific materials in a timely manner.
- Help establish and implement scientific content development, review and approval processes and timelines in accordance with internal processes and relevant medicinal writing guidelines such as GPP and ICMJE.
- Participate in or lead cross-functional publication planning and review meetings.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to ensure scientific communication materials (i.e. abstract, poster, manuscript) are developed, submitted and approved in a compliant manner to meet congress and publication timelines and ensure a high level of quality.
- Provide Medical Affairs central services support related to scientific content development for internal and external customers, as needed.
Skills/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or above in science related field.
- Minimum of two years of research experiences.
- Minimum of three years of medical writing experience.
- Certified Medical Publication Professional (CMPP) or medical writing certification required.
- Expert knowledge of medical writing guidelines such as ICMJE, GPP.
- Ability to appropriately interpret, summarize, and present statistical, clinical, preclinical, and medical information/data to ensure quality and accuracy of content in complex document types.
- Excellent medical writing and editing skills, including fact checking, researching, and referencing skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Able to build solid and positive relationships with cross‐functional team members.
- Capable of managing multiple projects.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet established deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite.
