Key Responsibilities
Perform a variety of complex laboratory tests on biological specimens.
Ensure the accuracy and validity of test results by adhering to established protocols.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
Calibrate and standardize test equipment to maintain precision and accuracy in measurements.
Participate in quality control and quality assurance programs.
Document all laboratory procedures and results accurately in compliance with regulatory standards.
Assist in training and mentoring junior laboratory staff and students.
Communicate test results clearly to healthcare providers and relevant stakeholders.
Keep abreast of new techniques and advancements in laboratory science.
Collaborate with pathologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
Adhere to safety protocols and infection control procedures.
Participate in research and development projects to improve laboratory practices.
Ensure compliance with laboratory policies and legal regulations.
Manage inventory and order supplies for the laboratory.
Report any equipment malfunctions or discrepancies in test results.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field.
Certification as a Medical Technologist from a recognized board (e.g., ASCP, AMT).
Minimum of 2 years experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.
Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures.
Proficiency in laboratory instrumentation and software.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, emergency environment.
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Understanding of laboratory information systems.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Basic understanding of microbiology, chemistry, and hematology.
Willingness to participate in continuing education and certification renewal.
Current CPR certification is a plus.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
