Medical Technologist / Medical Lab Technician (MLS, MT, MLT) Blood Bank - Maine Health

This position is eligible for hiring bonus!

While candidates with more than 2 years of experience are eligible to receive a $15,000 sign on bonus. This bonus will be prorated for Part Time or Per Diem positions.Relocation assistance and temporary housing if needed. Please note this bonus is not available to current MaineHealth employees or prior employees that have been separated for less than 6 months.

Our lab is a highly complex fast moving Blood Bank servicing a level 1 trauma center, large oncology, cardiac, OB and neonatal divisions, and Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital. We have a great team and are a reference lab for all the other Maine Health system hospitals. Culturally growing great location for recreation and foodies!

Position Summary

As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician you will:

• Independently perform and monitor laboratory testing of patient specimens according to established - procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Confirm, interpret, correlate and report normal and abnormal patient results.
• Recognize technical, instrumental and/or physiological problems and initiate resolutions.
• Assume responsibility for accuracy, quality control and required instrument maintenance.
• May provide training of laboratory and/or other health care personnel as directed.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Education: For Medical Technologist: Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory, Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science required.

License/Certifications:Certification as a Medical Technologist (or equivalent) or as a categorical technologist (e.g., C, H, I, BB, M) by a recognized professional organization (e.g., ASCP, AMT). Certification is required within 6 months of hire.

Experience: N/A

Must be able to work any shift, holiday and/or weekend, and travel among company sites as needed.

Education: For Medical Laboratory Technician:Associates Degree in Medical Laboratory Technician

License/Certifications: Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician by a recognized professional organization (e.g, ASCP/AMT). Certification is required within 6 months of hire.

Experience: N/A

Must be able to work any shift, holiday and/or weekend, and travel among company sites as needed.
