Responsibilities:What will you do?
The Medical Secretary is responsible for administrative support that includes clinical patient scheduling, appointments, confidential records, and filing.
- Coordinates activities and provides secretarial support for a multi-faceted clinical office to ensure a smoothly functioning office and good patient relations.
- Interacts with patients, patients’ families, referring physicians and third party carriers with regard to patient-related issues.
- Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, and organize a diversified workload.
- High School diploma; two or more years of experience in a health care environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 & CPT coding.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and customer/patient service experience.
- Organizational and problem solving skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to convey information both in writing and verbally. Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
- Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
- Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
- Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
