ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to Director of Medical Affairs
Job Location: Princeton-based with a flexible work schedule, including weekly in-person office days and domestic travel. Alternate locations may be considered and can be discussed during the interview process with the hiring team.
Job Background and Main Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to join our Medical Affairs team, depending on qualifications and experience. The MSL will play a pivotal role in building relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare providers (HCPs), and other stakeholders to support the scientific exchange and medical education related to our therapeutic areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a scientific expert and trusted resource for KOLs, HCPs, and internal teams regarding the following therapeutic area(s): schizophrenia, major depression disorder, bipolar, schizoaffective disorder, and related CNS areas (the “Therapeutic Area”).
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with KOLs and key stakeholders within the assigned territory.
- Present clinical and scientific data to external audiences, including KOLs, advisory boards, pharmacy and therapeutics committees, payor forums, and medical conferences.
- Provide scientific support for clinical trials, including site identification, feasibility assessments, and education on protocols.
- Gather and report insights from the field to inform medical and business strategies.
- Act as a liaison between internal teams (e.g., Medical Affairs, R&D, Commercial) and the external healthcare community.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company standards for interactions with healthcare professionals.
- Contribute to the development and review of medical and educational materials.
- Stay current with emerging clinical data, therapeutic trends, and competitor developments in the assigned therapeutic area(s).
- Respond to HCP inquiries.
Qualifications:
For Senior Manager Level:
- Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD) in a relevant scientific discipline.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison or similar role in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry.
- Deep expertise in Therapeutic Area.
- Proven experience in building and maintaining strong relationships with KOLs and other external stakeholders.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience presenting complex scientific data.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Experience with regulatory compliance and adherence to industry guidelines (e.g., PhRMA, OIG).
For Manager Level:
- Advanced degree preferred (PhD, PharmD, MD); Master’s degree with strong relevant experience may be considered.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an MSL or related role.
- Familiarity with the Therapeutic Area and ability to quickly learn and adapt to new scientific content.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and cross-functional teams.
Ability to travel up to fifty (50%) of time.
