The Medical Science Liaison reports directly to the Associate Director, Clinical and Medical Affairs, and is responsible for leading, implementing, and executing job duties as assigned for the medical office.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work in matrix partnerships with Chief Medical Officer, the Vice President of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs, and other Medical Directors, to develop field engagement strategies for accounts to be a field based, customer facing representative of Medical Affairs and Medical Office.
• Provide evidence based scientific and medical support to field-based teams, working in partnership with commercial, PPD (physician program director), and FRS (field research specialist) teams, to strengthen medical affairs support for the field.
• Autonomous operation of engagement within assigned geography with clinicians, KOLs (key opinion leaders), hospital personnel and research staff (e.g., through casual conversation, meetings, participation in conferences), in matrix partnership with field/commercial/PPD teams.
• Team up with Clinical Operations team members, including FRS team, to meet with Clinical Trial Sites (e.g., physicians, physician office groups at hospitals) to identify their clinical needs, goals, and constraints related to patient care and to discuss and demonstrate how company products can help them to achieve their goals.
• Partner with Academic Research Team on Investigator Sponsored Studies.
• Cross-functional roles within the Medical Office, providing subject matter expertise and serving as liaison with consultants and KOLs.
• Report to Medical Office and Academic Research any significant innovative scientific information and questions coming from customers.
• Respond to unsolicited inquiries consistent with Medical Affairs compliance standards. Qualifications:
• Advanced degree or clinical skillset with strong cardiovascular knowledge required (MD, DO, PhD, PharmD, NP, PA-C )
• A minimum of 8 years relevant work experience required
• 3 years clinical or research experience preferred
• Strong clinical knowledge of etiology/pathology of cardiovascular diseases and patient management issues especially coronary artery disease, revascularization procedures, heart failure, and cardiogenic shock required
• Proven prior experience in scientific data interpretation, presentation and publication is required
• Strong knowledge of compliance and regulations such as Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP)
• Excellent communication and writing skills, patience, professionalism and ability to effectively interact with staff and management alike
• Self-motivated leader able to manage and motivate site research teams, establishing goals; monitoring results to achieve tactical goals
• Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel; and understanding of database programs is extremely helpful.
• Requires 75% travel domestically ( Midwest Territory)
For U.S. applicants, in accordance with applicable disclosure requirements, the anticipated base pay range for this position is $120,000 to $180,000. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis.
