Givens Communities is looking for a full-time Medical Records Coordinator to join our team and support our Health Informatics Director. The primary purpose of this position is to maintain the medical records for Givens communities and all associated service lines as is required by State and Federal Licensure and Certification regulations and to assure that the highest degree of quality care will be always provided to our residents. This position will require flexibility and the ability to support our Asheville campus, Givens Estates, as well as our Black Mountain campus, Givens Highland Farms.
What you'll do:
- Assist in developing and maintaining medical records policy and procedure manual in consultation with the Health Care Administrator, Directors of Nursing, Health Care Informatics Director and the Medical Director
- Maintains medical record forms, monitors use and development of forms
- Maintains the electronic health record (EHR), ensuring required data is current in the record
- Coordinates admission documentation, transfers of residents, discharges, chart completion, record retention and ensures confidentiality of resident information
- Conducts chart audits on a routine basis to ensure proper compliance with accepted medical record standards
- Assists in the implementation and troubleshooting of software/ HER; and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of resident health information
- Perform any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned on an as-needed basis by an authorized supervisor
What you'll need:
- High School or GED equivalent is required
- Prefer two-year or four-year college degree
- As a minimum, one year experience as a medical records clerk in a long-term care setting is preferred
