About the Job
The Women’s Center in Lutherville is looking for a dedicated individual looking to make a difference in women’s healthcare. The Women’s Center is home to The Gynecology Center, The Breast Center, and the Center for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The ideal candidate would provide general administrative assistance to various specialty physicians in an outpatient setting within our hub site location. On occasion, this candidate will also be expected to perform other key job functions that may align with Medical Assistance, Surgical Coordinating, etc.
The Patient Service Associate is responsible for all front desk operations under the direction of the Practice Manager/Director/Assistant Director, which include, but are not limited to: Scheduling patients, answering phones, scanning medical records, triage patient phone calls for severity/importance, collection of insurance information and verification or benefits, charge entry and payment posting. The ideal staff member must demonstrate knowledge of the basic job principles and willingness to learn. In addition, the staff member must also demonstrate competency in applying these principles when providing individualized care to specific patients. The role requires knowledge of both front and back office procedures. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Greeting Patients in a Friendly Manner
- Checking in Patients
- Verifying Insurance
- Collecting Co-Payments and Outstanding Balances
- Checking out Patients
- Answering/Triaging Phone Calls
- Ensuring Voicemails Are Checked and Answered within an Appropriate Time Frame
- Completing Insurance Precertification When Necessary
- Maintaining Inventory
- Surgical Coordinating
- Obtaining Patient Charts
- Documenting Basic Patient Assessments
- Assisting Providers with Exams and Other Needs
- Stocking Exam Rooms
- Other Duties as Assigned
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Education and Work Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- A minimum of one year experience is preferred ain the customer service realm, whether it be in healthcare or other businesses that work with the public.
