At check-out, you will assist with payment collection and future appointment scheduling.

Compensation Range:
$20.00 - $24.75/HR

Reports to: Clinical Operations Manager
Location: Manhattan - Plymouth, MN: 15700 37th AVE North, Suite 230. Plymouth, MN 55446
Primary Responsibilities:
- Receive and screen visitors and telephone calls, providing general information both in person and over the phone.
- Verify patient demographic and insurance information prior to visits for all pre-scheduled patients; perform data entry to ensure accuracy.
- Register all patients at each visit according to established policies, capturing complete and up-to-date patient and insurance information.
- Document patient payments, including co-payments, past balances, and other charges.
- Schedule patients for physician visits and maintain updated appointment calendars to optimize clinic efficiency.
- Process all referral requests from physicians and patients promptly and accuratly.
- Notify clinical personnel of patient arrivals to ensure timely and efficient care.
- Manage and deliver departmental mail to relevant personnel.
- Track laboratory results for patients and follow up with lab companies in case of discrepancies or errors.
- Coordinate faxes, file management, and general office information to maintain organized operations.
- Process and maintain medical records in compliance with HIPAA and company policies.
- Conduct patient check-out, process payment for the current visit, schedule future appointments, and facilitate referrals and other orders as requested by the medical team.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- 1 year of customer service or patient-facing experience is required.
- Experience as a Medical Receptionist or similar is preferred. To qualify, this working experience should include some management of medical files, electronic health records (EHR), payment processing, insurance verification, medical terminology and abbreviations, and assisting with patient inquiries.
- Strong typing skills and working technical knowledge, with the ability to learn new medical systems, and troubleshoot technical issues with office equipment as needed.
- Must possess excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with a varied audience both internally across multiple departments, to patients, and external professionals as needed.
- Must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain efficiency and accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment.
