The Medical Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients and plays a crucial role in ensuring a positive experience in our healthcare facility. This position involves managing front office operations, including scheduling appointments, patient check-ins, and processing medical records, all while maintaining a professional and welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Manage incoming calls, direct them to appropriate staff, and answer basic inquiries.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring optimal use of time.
- Maintain patient records with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Collect and verify patient information, including insurance details and medical histories.
- Handle billing and payment processing, as well as resolve any billing inquiries.
- Coordinate communication between healthcare providers and patients.
- Ensure the front office area is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
- Assist with medical transcription, as needed.
- Support clinic operations by performing clerical tasks, such as filing, data entry, and preparing reports.
- Follow HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in healthcare is advantageous.
- Previous experience as a medical receptionist, healthcare administration or related fields preferred.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical software.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes is a plus.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
