Is it your calling to serve our Nation’s Heroes? Avosys is seeking a Medical Office Clerk to provide outpatient services to the military and their families at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, NV.

- Greets patients/visitors at a front desk, information center or office setting.
- Answers main office phone line. Directs telephone calls to appropriate section for assistance. Takes messages as required.
- Arranges and schedules medical appointments and determines patient eligibility for services. Determine patient eligibility, schedule appointments, relay general instructions to patients, or make referrals to other sections.
- Obtains updates and files medical records as needed.
- Organizes and researches patient records, extract needed information, and review records for completeness, accuracy, and consistency within established guidelines.
- Ensures arrival of medical records prior to appointment(s).
- Initiates and locates patient medical records as needed.
- Obtains documentation as requested by healthcare providers (test results, or documentation not yet filed in records).
- Performs other administrative and clerical duties in support of the medical care and operational support.
- Creates appointment schedules and templates in patient appointment computer system.
- Conducts end-of-day process at close of business and resolves any delinquent or pending appointments in computer system.
- Liaison with local hospitals such as the Veterans Administration Southern Nevada Healthcare System and surrounding community hospitals. Ability to communicate orally and in writing with patients, and base organizations to coordinate base access etc., medical professional network and community resources, and TRICARE.
- Updates MRDSS System with life support course completion. Completes post course reports, provides cards showing completion date to members. Provides course material as needed to instructors and orders more if needed. Maintains inventory of equipment for courses
- Creates course schedules and templates in training computer systems.
- Coordinates/Leads Onboarding Program. Educates newly assigned MDG personnel on local policies and procedures. Sets up briefers, coordinates schedules, and assigns members to modules.
- DMHRSi program lead; creates accounts & validates manning hours for Ed & Training Flight to justify hospital funding.
- Updates Medical Survival Guide for MDG Personnel with updated information. Distributes to all work centers.
- Testing Proctor. Proctor tests as needed using computer and monitor member for test
- Shadow Program Liaison. Coordinates members from outside our organization that want to shadow a clinic.
- A fully qualified typist with a minimum of 50 WPM is required.
- General medical ethics, telephone etiquette, and excellent communication and customer service skills.
- General office administrative and clerical skills to perform receptionist duties and answer telephones.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency. Medical terminology desired.
- At least 12 months of experience in office setting.
- The work is primarily sedentary. However, there may be some physical demands. Requirements include prolonged walking, standing, sitting or bending.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications using American Heart Association or American Red Cross guidelines. Members must present proof of current certification(s) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.
