Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $29.73 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

The Infectious Diseases Section at the NC State Laboratory of Public Health is currently accepting applications for a Sequencing Technologist. The primary purpose of this position is to perform dedicated wet laboratory sequencing work within the Sequencing and Bioinformatics Response laboratory to support epidemiological investigations and surveillance for a variety of pathogens in North Carolina.
This position will perform all wet work along with the Senior Sequencing Technologist and will work with the supervisor and colleagues to support the expanded sequencing of pathogens within the Infectious Disease Unit. The position will also support validation and method development work, quality assurance, problem resolution, and maintenance of sequencing methods and standard operating procedures (SOPs) within the laboratory.
This POSITION WILL:
• Perform next generation sequencing in accordance with standard operating procedures
• Extract nucleic acid from clinical specimens and/or infectious agents
• Prepare genomic DNA for Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) or other sequencing methods
• Operate a wide array of instrumentation and automation to perform sequencing and related methods
• Perform data entry and generation of worksheets
• Perform routine quality control and documentation
