Job Summary
As a Front Desk Representative, you will work under general supervision to ensure patients have a positive first impression of the organization by completing the check-in process effectively and efficiently.
Role and Responsibilities
- Receive and direct phone calls, patients, and other visitors. Respond to routine inquiries concerning practice services, hours of operations, and general questions regarding the practice.
- Assist with patient registration duties by collecting and verifying insurance cards and photocopying/scanning appropriate documentation. Verify patient identity and demographics and enter changes into the practice management system. Direct patients to the appropriate waiting area.
- Schedule, confirm, and verify patient appointments. Arrange follow-up visits and referral appointments.
- Verify patient insurance information by contacting/calling the appropriate insurance carrier and/or utilizing automated insurance verification systems.
- Receive, sort, and distribute mail to the appropriate department.
- Scan patient documents including insurance information into the EMR system.
- De-escalate situations involving dissatisfied customers, offering patient assistance and support.
- Provide clerical support to other departments.
- Collaborate and work as a team with other departments.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Proficient interpersonal relations and communication skills.
- Follows all organization policies and procedures regarding insurance protocols and procedures.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Upholds HIPAA and PHI regulations.
- Punctual and dependable for assigned shifts.
Preferred Experience
- 2+ years' experience in customer service or healthcare facility preferred.
- Experience with ATHENA EMR.
- Physical Requirements
- Office environment.
- Sitting, standing, walking, and/or moving up to 8 hours per day.
- Lifting up to 25 pounds.
