About the Job
The Medical Director for the FusionSleep Medicine Program is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the clinical operations, development, and growth of the FusionSleep Medicine program. The director will collaborate and oversee our board certified sleep physicians, Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Physician Assistants (PAs), and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest quality of patient care, adherence to American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) guidelines, and program scalability. Reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the Medical Director will play a crucial role in advancing the program's clinical excellence, patient outcomes, and operational efficiency. They will be expected to evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide non-surgical therapy options to patients, ages two (2) and up for all sleep disorders. FusionSleep’s comprehensive sleep program includes board certified sleep physicians, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, dental sleep specialists, sleep technologists and in-house DME. Our sleep program serves children and adults, has 12 beds and has been AASM accredited since 2007.
Responsibilities:
- Clinical Leadership:
- Provide expert clinical oversight to NPs/PAs, MDs, and other healthcare staff within the Sleep Medicine program.
- Review and update patient care protocols in accordance with the latest AASM guidelines and best practices.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of patient care, diagnostic procedures, and treatment plans to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Collaborate with medical staff to ensure accurate diagnosis and management of sleep disorders.
- Program Development and Scaling:
- Develop and execute strategies to expand and scale the Sleep Medicine program, ensuring access to care for a growing patient population.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement new services, programs, and initiatives that align with organizational goals and patient needs.
- Monitor program growth metrics, patient satisfaction, and clinical outcomes to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Staff Management and Training:
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to NPs, PAs, MDs, and other clinical staff within the Sleep Medicine program.
- Coordinate and oversee the recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing training of new clinical team members.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that encourages professional development and engagement.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant healthcare regulations, standards, and protocols, including those set forth by AASM and other governing bodies.
- Implement quality assurance measures to assess and improve the accuracy and consistency of clinical assessments, diagnoses, and treatments.
- Lead regular chart reviews and case discussions with our NPs/PAs and MDs to enhance clinical decision-making and adherence to guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with our NPs/PAs and the Georgia Composite Medical Board
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including pulmonologists, neurologists, psychologists, and other specialists, to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Liaise with the CMO, executive leadership, and administrative staff to communicate program updates, performance metrics, and strategic plans.
- Research and Education:
- Stay current with the latest developments in sleep medicine by participating in relevant medical conferences, seminars, and continuing education opportunities.
- Encourage and facilitate research initiatives within the Sleep Medicine program to contribute to advancements in the field.
Requirements
- Medical Degree
- Board-certified Sleep Physician with at least 5 years of clinical experience in Sleep Medicine
- Active medical license in Georgia
- United States Residency and Fellowship training
- Scoring Experience required
- Extensive clinical experience in diagnosing and treating sleep disorders.
- Strong knowledge of AASM guidelines and best practices.
- Proven leadership experience, preferably in a clinical or healthcare setting.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and lead a diverse clinical team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
