The Heart Institute at Joe DiMaggio Childrens Hospital (JDCH) is seeking an experienced leader to become the Medical Director of the Pediatric Cardiac Transplant, Heart Failure, and Cardiomyopathy Programs. The Heart Transplant Program was started in 2010 and has become the second busiest program in the state of Florida.
The physician must be board-certified in Pediatric Cardiology and have demonstrated expertise managing end-stage and advanced heart failure, both medically and utilizing mechanical circulatory support (MCS) and caring for cardiac transplant patients. Ideal candidates would have seven (7) years of post-training clinical experience and preferably two (2) years of leadership experience. Extensive knowledge of UNOS and other regulatory guidelines for transplant practices, and evidence of scientific reasoning and authorship on peer reviewed publications is expected. The qualified physician will join a multi-disciplinary team of transplant, heart failure, and MCS cardiologists and advanced practice providers to provide comprehensive care to pediatric and young adult patients. The Medical Director will be actively involved in Memorials ACGME-accredited Graduate Medical Education programs and should have the desire to teach residents and fellows. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, evidence of program leadership and development, team-building, and strategic planning as they apply to the continued excellence and programmatic growth.
The rapidly growing Cardiology Division consists of 24 Cardiologists, 3 surgeons, 5 interventional catheterization doctors, and 3 transplant physicians. Over 600 catheterizations and 10,000 echocardiograms are performed annually at JDCH. JDCH boasts excellent support for clinical research and there is ample opportunity for involvement. Our center participates in several multicenter studies, trials, and registries. Complementing the Heart Institute, Memorial Healthcare System has comprehensive programs, including the Transplant Institute, located onsite, to provide oversight and additional resources for our program.
This is a full-time employed position with the Memorial Physician Group. The position offers competitive benefits and a compensation package that is commensurate with training and experience. Professional malpractice and medical liability are covered under sovereign immunity.
