Applicants will be required to work a hybrid schedule with a mix of working from home and working in either our Plymouth Meeting office or Houston, TX office based upon the applicants location .
Role overview
The Medical Director, Population Health reporting to our SVP, Chief Medical Officer is responsible for ensuring our 2 million+ advocacy members are receiving high quality, evidence-based care in alignment with the Quintuple Aim. The Medical Director works with a multidisciplinary care team, providing care plan oversight and guidance for medically complex, high-need members in our care management and population health management programs. As a member of the Advocacy team, the Medical Director works closely with clinical operations, clinical strategy and product and customer success to support care management teams, interface with customers and support innovations to help the company improve its advocacy, second opinion service and virtual primary care.
A day in the life...
Provide physician direction for meeting care management goals to improve member health outcomes.
Participate in multi-disciplinary case rounds, providing guidance to the team on cases that require physician expertise.
Collaborate cross-functionally to manage the coordination and delivery of quality care and outcomes, member and provider outreach, and care management strategies across the member populations.
Keep current with accepted standards and professional developments in the areas of quality improvement, population health and care management.
Serve as a physician subject matter expert on priority product and clinical strategy and product initiatives (such as new offerings, capabilities, performance guarantees, and analytics/reporting tools).
Develop and maintain a good understanding of how to utilize available data and analytic resources to support population health management programs.
Participate in oversight and leadership to ensure outcomes, quality standards, and accreditation standards are met.
Represent Accolade in external accreditation and audit activities, customer relations and sales activities.
What we are looking for...
Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), with an active, unrestricted license to practice in any U.S. state is required.
Master's degree in business administration/management or public health preferred.
5 - 7 years in direct patient care (hospital, outpatient, or private practice), current part-time practice preferred
1 - 3 years in Medical Management in a Health Insurance Plan; strong knowledge of managed care industry
Experience with NCQA, HEDIS, Pharmacy benefit management, managed care, quality improvement, , care management, population health management, disease management, and evidence-based guidelines.
A proven communicator with demonstrated excellence in high visibility oral and written communications, including client-facing meetings.
Experience communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders across multiple teams.
A credible peer for anyone in the leadership of healthca e, an influencer and champion of change
Comfortable with developing, implementing, managing and executing through influence and in a collaborative manner across a cross-functional set of senior stakeholders.
Data-driven and results oriented
Comfortable with ambiguity and therefore is flexible and nimble in their approach. Exceptional problem-solver. Adept at simplifying complexity and developing scalable solutions.
Ability to travel as needed to Accolade offices (PA, WA, TX, CA)
