Emory Healthcare is seeking a Medical Director for our Capacity Command Center (CCC). The Medical Director will be directly responsible for the development, operation, and integration of the clinical provider practice aligned with the Capacity Command Center.
Successful candidate will be a board-certified physician with a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, as well as progressively responsible experience in healthcare operations, information systems, or management of a complex portfolio of clinical and business applications in a healthcare system. Description
The Medical Director role reports directly to the SVP of the CCC. This person must be an experienced and data-driven physician leader who provides decision support, organizational planning, and operational leadership for the organization, and facilitates clinical and operational integration within the Emory Healthcare (EHC) system. This role will foster a culture of excellence and efficiency by providing leadership and subject matter expertise to align strategies, processes, practice, and education around Command Center functions (including patient placement, patient transport, patient flow coordination and other services as the Capacity Command Center expands over time).
This role is responsible for providing system level leadership and oversight (both direct and indirect) to all aspects of consumer access across the enterprise and has oversight of the interfacility patient flow operations. By synergizing all services under the purview of the Command Center, the Medical Director will coordinate patient flow and prioritization with intra-system flow being a priority. This individual will be charged with developing and executing strategies that ensure our consumers and constituents have timely, convenient, and affordable access to services across the health system. In addition to the Medical Director role; clinical, research or faculty work may be a part of this position.
Responsibilities include:
+ Working directly with the SVP of CCC to design, develop, and implement initiatives to expand and enhance the CCC for patient flow management across all EHC operating units + Working directly with the SVP of CCC, develops plans to enhance capacity management and improve clinical operational efficiency within EHC operating units + Plans, designs, and implements processes for system-wide hospital transfers, bed utilization, and efficient patient management which closely align and support the changing needs of EHC operating units + In conjunction with the SVP of the CCC, establish a system to gather and maintain accurate, reliable and accessible goal-driven measures of success and key performance indicators (KPI) for patient placement, patient flow, patient transport, and other services as the EHC CCC expands over time + In collaboration with the SVP of the CCC, lead interdisciplinary performance improvement forums to evaluate if the processes driving measures of success and KPIs are meeting pre-established goals with a focus on the strategic operational KPIs established each fiscal year + Stay abreast of changing market conditions, competitors, and new technologies, and drive alignment on the potential impacts + Speak publicly at industry events and forge key relationships with industry leadership and influencers nationwide
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Board certified physician with at least 5 years of clinical experience. + Five years of progressively responsible experience in healthcare operations, information systems, or equivalent experience in managing a complex portfolio of clinical/business applications. + Experience with telemedicine, remote monitoring programs, and/or connected devices is preferred. + Must possess a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school recognized by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). + Must hold a valid and unrestricted medical license to practice medicine in the State of Georgia. + Board certified or board eligible in specialty. + Hold a valid DEA certificate without restriction. + Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
