Job Summary:
The Medical Billing Specialist - Payment Poster supports the business office by collecting and posting payments from insurance companies who have unpaid claims. Medical Billing Specialist - Payment Poster task list includes but is not limited to:
- Posts insurance payments and remit information from incoming EOBs onto patient’s accounts for previous dates of service.
- Appropriately identifies and processes adjustments.
- Reviews and responds to payment information associated with Explanation of Benefits or Remittance Advice documents by composing denial tasks in worklogs to the Medical Billers.
- Enter posted batch information into the EFT log.
- Navigate payer portals to be able to find missing EOB’s.
- Transfer patient payments from encounters that have credit to encounters that have money due.
- Run unapplied payments reports and learn to apply account and encounter payments to balances.
- Learn how to take patient credit card payments.
- Help answer incoming patient calls and TEAMS messages as needed in order to take a payment, explain a balance or send itemized statements.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required. Post-secondary education strongly preferred.
- Minimum one year of medical office experience relating to insurance or payment posting.
Skills & Abilities:
- Good writing, analytical and problem-solving skills. Attention to detail while processing high volumes of information is necessary.
- Ability to effectively interpret EOB information and apply it towards outstanding charges.
- Ability to enter in medical payment information towards patient accounts.
- Ability to assist in answering phone calls and returning voicemails.
- Ability to effectively communicate and prioritize duties.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to work well whether independently or as part of a team.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of basic office management and organization.

Compensation & Work Schedule:
- Full-time: 40 hours/week
- Non-Exempt
- Day Shift: Monday - Friday
- No evenings or weekends
