Description
* This position does require you to complete the Limited X-ray Machine and obtain a certificate within the first three months.
Responsible for assisting the physician in providing direct patient care and health teaching designed to meet the age/developmental specific needs of the health care patients. Delivers quality care by offering excellent customer service by participating in a team centered approach towards patient care. Collaboration with the Physician and nursing staff regarding patient care, holistic care involving patient families, proficiency in order entry, providing clerical and patient related support in the functional areas of record keeping, scheduling, and utilizing knowledge of office policy and procedure, verification of patient demographics, patient record filing and retention, verification of physician orders, scheduling patients for appointments and referrals, preparation of patient for exam, patient billing and payments, meet and greet patients and maintain office supplies. High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum One (1) year experience in direct patient care. Prefer experience in phlebotomy and laboratory testing/specimen preparation. Excellent PC skills. Currently be certified as Medical Assistant by the American Association of Medical Personnel or other governing body, BLS / CPR certification. Possess exceptional communication skills, critical thinking skills, and independent decision-making skills.
Responsibilities:
*Work to actively enhance patient relationships and loyalty
*Pre-plan for patient visits
*Provide patient care support, assist providers as needed and facilitate an efficient, organized clinical flow
*Interact with patients for annual wellness visits and document as necessary
*Pre-rounding and/or rounding with providers while updating EMR
*Ensure electronic medical records are accurately updated on a daily basis
*Set up e-prescriptions under direct supervision of providers
*Medication reconciliation
*Work independently and with provider teams, internal staff, and facility staff
*Take notes and document observations alongside provider during patient visits
*Monitor patient portal messages, summarize for provider as necessary
*Participate in training programs, educational sessions, etc.
*Responsible for inventory management
*Maintain knowledge of inventory procedures and submit any order requests to the VP of Business Continuity & Client Relations and designated Clinical Care Coordinator.
*Restock examination rooms, lab and clinical supplies as needed.
*Assist/Float to other departments as requested by supervisor or management.
Professional & Technical Knowledge:
Employee will exhibit competency when utilizing the following equipment:
+ ECG
+ PFT
+ In-house hemoglobin
+ Lab centrifuge
+ AED
+ Vital Sign Machine
+ Nebulizer and accessories
+ Blood Glucose
+ INR
+ In-house hemoglobin A1c
+ Any other equipment listed on job competencies
Employee will comply with job competencies and skill check-offs as part of annual evaluation.
Employee will be expected to navigate and operate Microsoft Office suite products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Licenses & Certifications:
+ High School Diploma or Equivalent
+ National certification of CMA required
+ Minimum of one (1) year CMA experience preferred.
+ Current BLS (basic life support) Certification
