About the Job
The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing general nursing care and assisting physicians in a clinical setting. The Medical Assistant must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served and the respective specialty. Will assist with procedures and medication administration and refills; has operational knowledge of all practice software systems; medical supplies, scheduling (clinic and hospital), patient education, patient flow, phone calls and messaging, obtaining authorizations, referrals, etc.; performs clerical tasks as needed including patient check out procedures, schedules follow up and/or referral visits and collects deductibles and co-pays. Obtains laboratory specimens and prepares them for transport. Maintains open communication with the Office Mgr. regarding all operations of the clinic, involving patients, staff and/or physicians is expected.
Education / License / Certification:
+ Successful completion of a Medical Assisting program
+ BLS certification required
+ ACLS certification preferred
Experience / Skills:
+ Minimum of one year experience working in a medical clinic and/or hospital required
+ knowledge of general specialty and PCP procedures and follow up preferred
+ Must possess basic computer skills (email, internet, Excel, Word) and able to work independently with minimum supervision required
+ Specialty specific MA experience preferred
+ Electronic Medical Record experience preferred
+ Must be able to read, comprehend and communicate on a professional level
+ Attention to detail and concentration
+ Ability to work in fast-paced, ever-changing environment
