About the Job
We are looking for Certified Medical Assistants who can support the provider and staff EMR in-baskets.
Support includes completing paperwork, communicating with the patient, and all other tasks which help support the patient. - Ability to take urgent triage phone calls from patients, upon transfer, who may need immediate medical attention, i.e. chest pain, shortness of breath, etc., utilizing a triage protocol (LVN will have access to physician if needed).
- Ability to answer and manage routine portal messages and questions that patients may have. If unable to resolve, LVN forwards message to the provider staff or provider in a timely fashion.
- Oversee medication refill inbox and make sure all prescriptions are refilled within 2 business days max,
- Managing and refilling medications directly to pharmacy per our prescription refill protocol
- Place electronic orders for medication refills as authorized under our refill protocol.
- Phone calls direct to pharmacy when indicated.
- Schedule patient appointments for follow-up visits when appropriate and/or message scheduling department to schedule follow up appointments if indicated per protocol.
- Telephone calls to patients regarding normal lab and imaging results
- Notifying patients of normal lab and imaging results using the MyChart portal
- Notifying patients of abnormal labs and imaging results as communicated to you by the ordering provider.
- Help maintain assigned providers and staff inbox.
- Maintains records and assists with clinical paperwork (i.e., paper refills, orders, forms, referrals, prior authorizations, etc.)
- Ability to accept urgent phone calls from radiology regarding critical imaging results, and then relay the message to the ordering healthcare provider in a timely fashion.
- Assists patients with problems or requests either by telephone or electronically.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
- Works cooperatively with others, including appropriate communication with patients, providers, support staff, and administration.
Required education and experience: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.
Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Certified Medical Assistant Certificate
- A valid BLS Certification from American Heart Association required.
Minimum Experience Required:
- Must have a minimum of 1-year clinical experience.
- Must have a minimum of 1 year Triage experience.
Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Bilingual Spanish is preferred.
- Knowledge of and the ability to perform nursing procedures for which the vocational nursing course has provided the necessary degree of skill and judgment; performance shall be limited to those acts for which he or she has been prepared.
- Knowledge of accepted procedures for disposing of used supplies.
- Ability to communicate effectively and congenially with patients and staff members in person and over the phone.
- Ability to exercise tact, initiative, and good judgement when interacting with patients and staff members.
- Ability to observe the general physical condition of patients to detect signs of abnormalities.
- Ability to record observations and notes completely, accurately, literately, and concisely.
- Computer skills necessary to navigate the company’s EMR system.
- Ability to accept supervision and feedback.
