Role Summary:
Our client is seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join their team, helping to deliver exceptional care to elderly patients in a clinical setting. This role offers the opportunity to elevate your clinical expertise while working closely with providers and patients to ensure the safe, efficient delivery of medical services. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and welcoming environment, assisting with clinical tasks, and maintaining smooth clinic operations.
Setting: Outpatient clinic
Population: Geriatrics
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare patients for appointments by setting up exam rooms, checking them in and out, and obtaining accurate histories of their current condition.
Perform pre-exam physical tests, including measuring and recording vital signs.
Assist with medical procedures such as dressing changes and suture removals under physician supervision.
Collect and prepare laboratory specimens as ordered, ensuring proper handling and processing.
Perform routine sterilization of medical and dental equipment.
Maintain clinic logs and ensure exam rooms are clean, sanitized, and fully stocked for patient encounters.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
At least two (2) years of experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting, preferably working with a frail or elderly population.
Reliable means of transportation.
Completion of a Medical Assistant program accredited by:
CAAHEP (Commission Accreditation of Allied Health Programs) or the California State Medical Board.
Certification from one of the following approved agencies: AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistance), CCMA (California Certifying Board of Medical Assistance), AMCA (American Medical Certification Association), AMT (American Medical Technologists), MMCI (Multiskilled Medical Certification Institute, Inc.), or CMA (Certified Medical Assistant).
2-year Associate degree program in Medical Assistance
