Role Purpose: The Medical Assistant (MA) provides medical assistance under the direction of a physician or other licensed provider. This position performs select duties for the promotion of health in the care of patients and delivers care according to practice protocols and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Clean, prepare and stock supplies in exam rooms.
- Obtain vital signs and patient history. Maintain accurate and prompt charting in the patient's record.
- Perform clinical skills such as phlebotomy, electrocardiography (EKGs), point-of-care testing and injections.
- Triage calls, provide test and lab results to patients and present relevant information to providers with correct medical terminology.
- Manage medical records including filing of electronic materials into EMR.
- Review and manage a variety of invoices including lab testing and medications, input into charge processing system.
- Create and process prior authorizations as needed for lab tests, imaging, and medications.
- Manage inbound and outbound patient phone calls for clinical questions, scheduling, and patient enrollment.
- Stock, maintain, and dispense medications from pharmacy.
- Process lab specimens such as point-of-care tests, centrifuged blood specimens.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education
- High School Diploma or GED
- Licenses & Certifications
- Must provide proof of MA Certification upon hiring.
