Job Summary and Qualifications

The Medical Assistant, Radiation Oncology will schedule and cancel patient appointments, check patients in/out; enter patient charges and payments; answer the phone and perform other selected administrative duties and assisting nursing staff

· You will verify patient insurance and demographics

· Take patient histories and vital signs, prepare exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments

· You will prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization

· Coordinate continuity of patient care with external healthcare organizations and facilities.

· Must read, understand, and adhere to all Physician Services policies and procedures.

What qualifications you will need:

· Graduate from an accredited school of Medical Assisting and/or Certified as a Medical Assistant required

· Understanding of medical terminology required.

· Prior phone and customer service skills required.

· One year of office phone and customer relations experience with medical and/or hospital site also required

· Type 60+ wpm preferred with advanced Word processing, computer and data entry skills.

· Three years of experience with multiple practitioners, medical office, and/or hospital experience also preferred

· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of start date
