About the Job
Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Medical Assistant to join our Otolaryngology (ENT) Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting otolaryngologists in providing high-quality patient care, performing various clinical and administrative tasks, and ensuring smooth operations within the department.
Hours and Locations are:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday - 10am-6pm, Plainsboro, NJ
Wednesday, Friday - 10m-6pm, Monroe, NJ
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting Otolaryngologists: Provide support to otolaryngologists during patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Patient Care: Escort patients to examination rooms, take vital signs, and prepare patients for procedures or surgeries.
- Medical Procedures: Assist with in-office procedures such as ear cleanings, nasal endoscopies, and throat examinations.
- Patient Education: Educate patients on pre- and post-operative care instructions, medication usage, and general health information.
- Medical Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR) for all patients, including documenting patient history, procedures, and test results.
- Administrative Duties: Handle follow-up phone calls, verify insurance information, and assist with billing and coding as needed.
- Equipment Management: Sterilize and maintain medical instruments and equipment, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness.
- Compliance: Adhere to all HIPAA and OSHA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality and ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a medical assisting program preferred.
- Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification preferred.
- Experience: Prior experience working in a medical office or clinic, preferably in otolaryngology or a related field.
- Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and EMR systems.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and patient care.
