About the Job
We are seeking a Medical Assistant for out client based in the Monadnock region. A Medical Assistant (MA) provides clinical and administrative support to healthcare professionals, ensuring that patients receive the best possible care. MAs perform a variety of tasks, including taking patient histories, assisting with examinations, preparing medical equipment, and managing patient records. They work in hospitals, private practices, clinics, and other healthcare settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Take and record patient vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and weight.
- Prepare patients for examination by positioning them, providing necessary gowns, and explaining procedures.
- Assist physicians during exams, treatments, or minor surgeries.
- Administer injections or medications as directed by the physician.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens (blood, urine, etc.).
- Perform basic laboratory tests, such as blood glucose levels or EKGs.
- Sterilize medical instruments and ensure proper equipment maintenance.
- Provide patient education on topics such as medication, lifestyle changes, and post-treatment care.
Administrative Duties:
- Schedule patient appointments and manage the clinic's calendar.
- Answer phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and relay messages between healthcare providers and patients.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including medical history and treatment plans.
- Process insurance information and assist with billing and coding procedures.
- Handle correspondence, such as sending out appointment reminders, test results, and medical forms.
- Ensure patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
Patient Interaction:
- Greet patients as they arrive, ensure they feel comfortable, and provide necessary paperwork.
- Ensure patients understand instructions, such as pre-procedure or medication instructions.
- Provide support and empathy to patients in a compassionate manner, ensuring their well-being.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education:
- Completion of a medical assistant training program (certificate or diploma).
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) may be preferred.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and healthcare procedures.
- Proficiency in basic medical procedures and laboratory tests.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
Experience:
- Previous experience as a medical assistant or in a healthcare setting is often preferred
