RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greets patients upon arrival to the department, creates and/or verifies patient identification and information in the EMR as needed.
- Reviews future scheduled orders, performs patient screening, appointment confirmation calls, orders management, data entry into the EMR, etc.
- Responsible for taking patients from waiting room and reviews patients' recent history and physical as part ot the intake process.
- Provides explanation of study.
- Properly obtains and documents vitals prior to study ( blood pressure, oxygen saturation, lung auscultation) and prepares patient visit.
- Accurately places electrodes and ECG leads on patients based on a thorough knowledge of cardiothoracic anatomy.
- Assists the nuclear medicine technologists with beginning and ending exams in Epic, which includes accurately charging doses and medications.
- Assists the nuclear medicine technologists with patients in the imaging room in a safe manner.
- Assists the providers and/or clinicians with patients in the office as needed and is to include but not limited to the following tasks:
- Clinical Chart Preparation
- Gather appropriate documents and signatures necessary to assist the clinician in making treatment decision
- Provides patient education and assists patients with clinical questions as needed and appropriate with the MA scope.
- Notifies patients of test results per protocol as needed.
- Provides a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Works as a resuscitative team member in emergency situations within their level of expertise and training, and within the scope of the MA.
- Responsible for knowing the location of the medical supplies and medication on the emergency cart and the proper operation of emergency equipment within their scope.
- Assists with maintining proper stock of medical and clerical supplies and reports supply needs to the manager.
- The Medical Assistant, PET is responsible for attending the two-week orientation to discuss the clinical duties above and training sessions of new processes as they are implemented.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Medical Assistant Certification preferred
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- BLS and ACLS required
- Must be highly skilled and proficient in starting IV's
- Previous experience working in a medical office with both administrative and clinical experience preferred
- Computer Literate
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Prior experience with the use of an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) preferred
- Ability to multi-task in busy setting
