The Medical Assistant ensures that patients are welcomed in a warm and friendly manner and sees that their needs and expectations are met. MA's are responsible for ensuring the smooth operations in the fast paced environment of the clinic with the goal of a positive patient experience with every encounter. Medical Assistants will also perform a variety of clinical and administrative duties.
This role will work in both our Heber City and Park City offices.
Approximate schedule is below (may be subject to change):
Monday: 8:00-5:00 in Heber City
Tuesday: 8:00-5:00 in Heber City AM, Park City PM
Wednesday: Off
Thursday: 8:00-5:00 in Park City
Friday: 8:00-5:00 in Heber City
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinates with clinic staff to ensure a positive patient flow, waiting room, and exam room experience
- Prepares patients to be seen by physicians, collects vital signs and testing as required by the provider
- Assists provider with collection, documentation, processing, and verification of information related to patient care in EMR system
- Monitor, clean and sanitize assigned patient examination rooms, unit areas and unit equipment; reports outdated supplies, stock levels and restock set levels of items and necessary equipment repairs
- Assists in routine clerical functions such as filing of medical information in patient's records, locating and compiling department charts, and obtains necessary medical records from other providers
- Performs diagnostic tests and processes and enters results
- Communicates patient concerns and needs to the healthcare provider
- Provides timely response to patient inquiries and timely completion of assigned tasks
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively on the phone, in writing and via email, as well as ability to exercise discretion on sensitive and confidential matters
- Assists physicians in preparing for minor surgeries
- Assists with scheduling of tests and treatments
- Apply dressing, bandages, and splints as ordered by podiatrist
- Maintain a sanitized and safe working environment
- Maintain HIPAA
- Perform other duties as assigned by practice manager
- Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work unsupervised or with minimal supervision
- Strong computer skills and use of Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of basic medical procedures such as dressing a wound
- Strong communication skills and ability to actively listen
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
- Strong organizational and clerical skills to maintain patient files and perform office duties
- Customer services skills
- Knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Current American Heart Association CPR Certification
Certification from an approved medical assistant program or equivalent combination of training
EMR experience is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
National Medical Assistant Certification
Successful completion of a medical assisting externship
One or more years experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting
One or more years of demonstrated customer service experience
Experience working with an EMR system
Experience as a medical scribe
CPR Certification
X-ray certification
