Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The Medical Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting healthcare providers in delivering high-quality patient care. Responsibilities:
Clinical Support:
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Prepare patients for examinations by obtaining vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints.
- Perform basic medical procedures such as phlebotomy, EKGs, wound care, and specimen collection.
Patient Communication and Education:
- Provide clear and concise instructions to patients regarding medications, treatments, and follow-up care.
- Educate patients on preventive healthcare measures, lifestyle modifications, and disease management.
Medical Records Management:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, including patient histories, test results, and treatment plans.
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations in handling patient information.
Administrative Support:
- Schedule appointments, process referrals, and assist with patient registration and check-in/out procedures.
- Manage phone calls, messages, and inquiries from patients, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders.
- Assist with billing and coding processes, including verifying insurance coverage and processing claims.
Inventory Management:
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment, ordering and restocking as needed.
- Ensure proper storage and organization of supplies to support efficient clinic operations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical assistant training program is preferred.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) is a plus.
- Previous experience working as a medical assistant in a healthcare setting is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in basic medical procedures, such as venipuncture, injections, and vital signs measurement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and computer skills.
