Reports to the Practice Manager and works under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor and Clinical Educator. Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, performs various clerical and patient care duties. Responsibilities include assisting the Physician/Provider in support of medical care, performing various procedures, answering the telephone, admitting and discharging patients, and performing data entry.

Performs routine clerical duties in accordance with established policies and procedures by:
- Receiving and greeting all patients and visitors in a professional manner and providing all reasonable assistance.
- Recognizing the acuity of patients before the triage process.
- Receiving telephone calls, taking and relaying messages accurately.
- Obtaining information from the patient to accurately complete the patient record for payment information, computer input, etc.
- Maintaining patient files, charts, and records.
- Maintaining all assignments throughout the shift.
Performs patient care duties as directed by the Physician/Provider:
- Recording medical history.
- Responding to acuity patients in a timely manner.
- Preparing patient for examination.
- Assisting Physician/Provider with minor and emergency or surgical procedures.
- Performing routine laboratory and EKG tests as ordered and collecting specimens for the lab.
- Performing all POC test per protocol prior to seen by Physician/Provider.
- Administering and recording medication and injections as ordered.
- Interpreting Physician's/Provider�s instructions to patients and providing instruction to patients.
- Checking and maintaining supply of stock to exam rooms as well as lab area.
- Cleaning and sterilizing instruments and equipment daily.
- Scheduling all referrals into the system in a timely manner.
- Preparing procedure rooms for sutures, staples and wound care.
- Arranging for Physician/Provider to call report to ED if patient needs further evaluation.
- Maintaining pool box on a daily basis.
- Performing ortho glass splinting once orders have been placed
- Educating patients on the use of crutches, and ortho applications as needed.
- Assisting Physician/Provider with the need for sutures, staples and wound care.
- Preparing all workman comp paperwork for Physician/Provider.
- Completing all DOT assessments including eye test, hearing test, vitals as well as paperwork for Physician/Provider prior to being seen.
- Completing all drug screening for any pre-employment, work comp, DOT patients.
- Triaging patient up on arrival to determine acuity level and urgency, alert provider for direct patient care.
- Telephone triage/central phones for all four locations.
Performs other functions to maintain personal competence and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department by:
- Attending required meetings and participating in committees as requested.
- Enhancing professional growth and development through in-service meetings and educational programs as approved.
- Completing other job-related duties and projects as assigned.

Associate complies with the following organizational requirements:
- Attends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.
- Completes mandatory education, annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.
- Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.
- Maintains license/certification, registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.
- Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS (CPR), and other certifications as required by position/department.
- Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.
- Adheres to regulatory agency requirements, survey process and compliance.
- Complies with established organization and department policies.
- Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.

Education and Experience
- The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are acquired through the successful completion of a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Must be a minimum of 17 years of age. Previous medical office experience and the ability to speak and write Spanish are desired.

- Demonstrates knowledge of and competency in performing patient care procedures, observations, treatments and techniques utilized by facility.
- Requires ability to perform vena puncture.
- Demonstrates high level of interpersonal and communication skills necessary to consistently receive and greet visitors, clients, and staff members in a professional manner.
- Demonstrates well developed communication skills to communicate effectively and clearly to a variety of internal and external contacts.
- Requires knowledge of billing, office procedures and computer skills.
- Demonstrates analytical skills necessary to solve patient problems and interpret data.
- Promotes collaboration and innovation in the clinical services to ensure an interdisciplinary approach to improving health care delivery and the quality of patient care.
- Requires ability to perform EKG's and other procedures applicable to the practice.
Working Conditions
- Works in a Urgent Care office environment.
- May require lifting or positioning of patients.
- Flexible hours and work schedule required.
- Available to float at any Urgent Care location.
Physical Demands
- Requires the physical ability and stamina (i.e. to walk/stand for prolonged periods of time, push carts/wheelchairs, lift at least 50 pounds, to position/lift patients of various sizes and weights, etc.) to perform the essential functions of the position.
