1+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant
1+ years of experience as a Medical Receptionist / front desk
1+ years of experience assisting in a medical office
Experience giving shots to all ages (shots on adults and infants)
Experience with verifying insurances and collecting copays
EMR experience
Vitals
DUTIES:
Greet patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
Report to clinical coordinator or practice administrator
Perform nursing procedures under supervision of physician
Assist physician in exam rooms
Escort patients to exam rooms, interviews patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and document all information in patients chart
Give instructions to patients as instructed by physician
Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed is available in patient's medical records prior to their appointment
Take telephone messages and provide feedback and answers to patient/physician/pharmacy calls
Triage and process messages from patients and front office staff to physicians
Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.)
Maintain patient appointments on schedule by verifying patient insurance benefits and eligibility prior to the appointment.
Remind patients of their appointment the day before.
Register and check in patients in a timely manner.
Prepare necessary documents for the visit.
Notify the provider of patients late arrival.
Reschedule or move late arriving patients when necessary.
Provides instructions and directions to patients regarding diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatments.
Answers patient questions and maintains a clean and presentable front office reception area.
Respond to patient calls and emails within a timely manner.
Ensures that patient demographics and insurance information are accurate and up to date in the EMR system.
Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, including weight, manual blood pressure, EKGS, pulse and temperature, and document all information in the patients EMR chart.
Disinfects and cleans treatment rooms following patient examinations; maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment.
Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies and properly dispose of contaminated supplies.
Other duties as assigned.
