Medical Assistant II (Pediatrics)
The Medical Assistant II is responsible for providing quality patient care in a team-based environment while assisting in all aspects of medical practice under direct supervision of a clinician to prepare and assist Premier Community HealthCare Group (PCHG) providers for patient visits. Partners with providers and office support to provide best-in-class experience and care to our patients.
Understand patient history, perform basic work ups and discharge, along with proficiency in lab draws, medication management, vaccine administration and referrals. Assist providers in examination and procedures during patient visits.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate patient visits and ensures patients are taken care of in a timely manner and maintain high patient satisfaction. Includes monitoring and responding to task boxes.
- Exhibits and promotes Core Values and is actively engaged in promoting a positive work environment and service excellence.
- Ensures safety and compliance protocols are followed in accordance with PCHG and regulatory policies.
- Proficient knowledge of PCHG policies and procedure and demonstrates appropriately and consistently. Understands resources and can effectively work towards solutions.
- Consults with Director of Nursing, Director of Risk & Compliance and training as needed.
- Work with provider and other Medical Assistants to ensure appropriate procedures are prepared upon check in and appointment runs smoothly.
- Present issues and provide case reviews to providers and anticipating concerns.
- Demonstrates initiative to keep clinic flow moving through effectively prioritizing work.
- Provide coverage at multiple sites and/or service lines
- Record medical information and relevant notes in the patient’s chart timely and accurately reflecting all items obtained within visit. Ensure appropriate hand offs and flow trackers are completed to make patient visit run smoothly.
- Effectively communicates with patients/families during complex or highly sensitive matters in a professional manner.
- Perform CLIA waived and lab testing and transmission per Laboratory Protocols.
- Perform venipuncture as required for blood collection per Laboratory Policies.
- Collect and process body function samples as ordered and send out for lab testing.
- Address routine patient complaints and builds strong rapport with patient population
- Regular attends and participates in assigned meetings.
- Provides constructive solutions for positive changes within the office and may lead process improvement projects.
- Ability to troubleshoot newer MAs and PCAs questions and give guidance or tips for effectiveness. Expected to give insights to new ideas and solutions to promote workplace effectiveness.
- Back-up MA Is in basic work ups including, but not limited to, preparing room and obtaining medical history and health reminders.
- Ensure confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times.
- Keep other care team members informed when situations occur that disrupts timely patient flow through site.
- Contribute to community give back initiatives and be an advocate for Premier’s mission
- Adhere to patient care needs and the core values of Premier Community HealthCare to a provide best-in-class patient experience.
- Work towards attaining department goals and drive Quality Improvement / Quality Assurance (QI/QA).

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certified or Registered MA, EMT or Paramedic
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Demonstrated strong clinical skills or two (2) years’ experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Strongly prefer one (1) year in a Community Health Care facility
- Obtain and maintain Epic certification/ annual compliance throughout employment
