Medical Assistant I- Pediatrics
The Medical Assistant I is responsible for providing quality patient care in a team-based environment while assisting in all aspects of medical practice under direct supervision of a clinician to prepare and assist Premier Community HealthCare Group (PCHG) providers for patient visits. Partners with providers and office support to provide best-in-class experience and care to our patients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate patient visits and ensures patients are taken care of in a timely manner and maintain high patient satisfaction. Includes monitoring and responding to task boxes.
- Work with provider to ensure appropriate procedures are prepared upon check in and prepare rooms to make appointments run smoothly.
- Room patients, perform vital signs and measurements, obtains medical history and complete health reminders.
- Record medical information and relevant notes in the patient’s chart timely and accurately reflecting all items obtained within visit. Ensure appropriate hand offs and flow trackers are completed to make patient visit run smoothly.
- Maintain clinic examination room supplies and cleaning. Disinfects and processes instruments for sterilization. Operate the autoclave.
- Effectively communicates with patients/families and other members of health care team in a professional manner.
- Knows peers within clinic and where to find resources do their daily job. Reaches out to Clinical Lead or MA IIs for guidance. Consults with Director of Nursing, Director of Risk & Compliance and training as needed.
- Responsible for individual goals and will give suggestions for change.
- Demonstrate problem solving skills.
- Assists in maintaining accurate and complete records by updating the patients’ medical records
- Collect and process body function samples as ordered and send out for lab testing.
- Regularly attends and participates in assigned meetings.
- Meets established attendance criteria and starts work promptly.
- Knows and consistently implements the organization's mission and all approved policies, protocols, and procedures.
- Ensures safety and compliance protocols are followed in accordance with PCHG and regulatory policies.
- Respects and acknowledges the organizations mission, which is expressed through behavior, language, and actions.

- Consistently interacts with clients and staff in a manner that reflects favorably on the organization and promotes teamwork.
- Ensure confidentiality and HIPAA compliance at all times.
- Keep other care team members informed when situations occur that disrupts timely patient flow through site.

- Adhere to patient care needs and the core values of Premier Community HealthCare to a provide best-in-class patient experience.
- Work towards attaining department goals and drive Quality Improvement / Quality Assurance (QI/QA).
- Understand and obtain competency towards Medical Assistant II role, including lab draws, vaccine administration, medication management and referrals. Ability and expectation to assist as competency is proficient.

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Proof of graduation from an accredited Medical Assisting program with the State of Florida, EMT or Paramedic
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- One year of experience in a medical clinic setting preferred
- Obtain and maintain Epic certification/annual compliance training throughout employment.
