Career Opportunity:
Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant Float to join our team in the Las Vegas, Nevada area. In this role, you will work with some of the best physicians in their fields while providing care to patients in a successful healthcare organization.
SCOPE:
Underdirectsupervision,assistsphysiciansandclinicianswithpatient care dutiesin a clinicalenvironment.Promotesefficientpatientflowandpatient care, i.e., exams, andprocedures.Performsclinicsupport tasks includingmiscellaneousclerical tasks, answeringphones,andmaintainingphysician’sschedule.SupportsandadherestotheUSOncologyComplianceProgram,includingtheCodeofEthicsandBusinessStandards.
Responsibilities:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Escorts patientstoandfromexam rooms, physicianoffices,andtreatmentroomsas appropriate.
- Records patientdatabeforeeachphysicianvisit,includingbutnotlimitedto,vitalsigns,height,weight,allergies,andmedication changes.
- Obtainsallnecessarypatient records asrequiredby the physicianbeforetreatmentor procedures.
- Preparesand stocks exam/treatment rooms andorderssuppliesas needed.
- Assists physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
- Depending on practice-specific protocols, may be asked to obtain.
- Administerssubcutaneousandintramuscularinjections,asdelegatedbyRNor physician.
- Maintainsallexam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
- Responds to patients’ calls as requested. -Performs otheradministrativeduties,,typing,filingfaxingreception,etc.,asrequestedbysupervisororphysician.
- Alerts nurse/physician of abnormal vitals, and any important information that was given by the patient.
- Collection of inbound meaningful use data. Flu documentation, initial height, and weight.
- Prints med list for the patient to review.
- Fill out disability forms.
- Schedule blood transfusions, therapeutic phlebotomies, ordering special tests (Oncotypes, Kras testing, EGFR (epidural growth factor receptor), Myraid, Paradigm, etc.).
- May enter orders under a provider’s direction and supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Highschoolgraduateorequivalent required.
- A certificateofgraduationfromanaccreditedprogram for MedicalAssistants is preferred.
- 0-5 (+) yearsas a medicalassistantornursing assistant.
- Phlebotomyexperience preferred.
- CurrentBCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)certification is required.
- CertifiedMedicalAssistant preferred.
- Some state regulations may require specific certifications to work as a Medical Assistant.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physicaldemandsdescribedherearerepresentativeofthosethat must bemetbyanemployeetosuccessfullyperformtheessentialfunctionsofthis job. Reasonableaccommodations may be made toenableindividualswithdisabilitiestoperformessentialfunctions.Full range of body motion requireshandlingandliftingpatients,manualandfingerdexterity,andeye-handcoordination.Requiresstandingandwalkingforextensiveperiods. Occasionallyliftsand carries itemsweighingupto40lbs.Requires corrected visionandhearingtonormalrange.Required to lift and assist patients as requested.
