The Medical Assistant will support the ENT Department onsite at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital - Milton, working fully onsite in Milton, MA.
The anticipated schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5pm.
$1,500.00 Bonus Eligible!
- Sign on bonuses are paid out in three payments. You will receive your first payment (one third of the total amount) within the first 30 days of employment and is subject to applicable taxes. You will receive the second payment at six (6) months and the third payment (final third of total amount) one year following your start date and all payments subject to applicable taxes.
- Full time status at BIDMC is considered for schedules greater than or equal to 30 hours per week; part time status is 20 to 29 hours per week. Please note, per diem employees are not eligible for sign on bonuses.
- Current and Former BILH candidates - restrictions apply. BIDMC Internal employees or employees within the BILH system are not eligible for the bonus or if you have been employed by a BILH entity within the last 12 months.

Job Description:
Coordinates patient flow, prepares patients for examinations with a focus towards excellent customer service and assists with a variety of office based procedures.
Essential Responsibilities:
+ Greets patients and escorts them from the waiting room to the proper examination room. Maintains patient flow so that surgeon is seeing patients on a timely basis.
+ Evaluates patients by determining the reason for the visit and documents a brief history and appropriate vital signs that may include height, weight, blood pressure, pulse and temperature. Prepares patients for exam per the individual surgeon protocol. Accompanies and assists the surgeon with exam, as necessary.
+ Assists surgeon with procedures, applies dressing and bandages, provides wound care under the supervision of the surgeon.
+ Cleans and stocks examination rooms, ensuring that all exam rooms have adequate inventory of necessary supplies. Monitors supply levels and replenishes as necessary.
+ Maintains equipment and instruments in proper working order. Processes instruments to ensure appropriate sterilization. Ensures that necessary sterilized instruments, in sufficient quantity, are available for the surgeons.
+ Triages and responds to patient clinical questions and telephone calls. Directs calls and inquiries to the appropriate surgeon when appropriate.
+ Obtains reports and radiologic films as requested by the surgeon. Prepares medical records for clinical sessions ensuring that all required paperwork is included.
+ Participates in front desk activities: checks patients in utilizing the computer system; co-payment collection from patients; referral management; daily reconciliation process; answers telephone; and assists with other administrative duties as requested.
+ Ensures appropriate handling/disposal of medical waste.
+ Files, coordinates mail and correspondence distribution.
Required Qualifications:
+ High School diploma or GED required. Associate's degree preferred.
+ Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
+ MA, EMT, CNA, LNA certificate or diploma; or at least 5 months of direct patient care experience in a clinical or research setting, such as: experience working as a medical assistant (MA), a patient care technician (PCT) or a clinical nursing assistant (CNA); nursing or medical student with completion of one clinical rotation.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Ambulatory and/or Surgical Practice setting experience.
+ Phlebotomy certificate
