JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision and direction of the Clinical Manager, the Medical Assistant Coordinator collaborates with Federal, State and local governments including Joint Commission and regional Health Departments. The Coordinator is also responsible for creating staff training programs and ensuring clinical staff competency. Ensures clinical departments operate according to safe performance standards while providing an example of exemplary patient and family centered care.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Promote patient and staff safety by ensuring a safe environment and the safe and correct use of equipment and technology.Support and reinforce implementation of standards of care and Joint Commission Standards.Responsible for MMA monthly orientation and training of new Medical Assistants and employee transfers to different clinics.Assists with yearly competency assessment and skill validation as trained by the Clinical Manager.Develop training material per regulatory requirement.Provide training and ongoing support for EMR implementation and updates.Provide clinic-based training with face-to-face education of Medical Assistants for point-of-care application including updates and changes.Create and manage schedule for MMA service excellence and quality and safety training.Coordinate and execute enrollment and training of staff members on State of Michigan MCIR website.Apply for and update State of Michigan CLIA applications.Coordinate NetLearning (Symplr) modules and assign and validate as appropriate.Assist with notification and follow up to ensure removal of recalled items in clinics.Demonstrate knowledge of and support of MHC mission, vision and value statements, standard policies, procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality statement, corporate compliance plan and code of ethical behavior.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent required.Medical Assistant Coordinator MMA; August 2023
Certificate of completion of Medical Assistant program. Must have current credentialingthrough AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants) as a CMA, through AMT (American Medical Technologists) as an RMA, through NHA (National Health Career Association) as a CCMA, through AAH (American Allied Health) as an RMA, or through NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing as a NCMA.
Current Basic Life Support certification required.
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
Minimum of three (3) year medical office experience preferred with progressive clinical leadership responsibilities in a physician office setting.Demonstrated ability to professionally relate to medical staff, administration and staff.Understanding of day-to-day clinical operations in a physician practice including inventory control and efficient operations
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL ABILITIES/MOTOR SKILLS
Able to travel independently throughout all Memorial Healthcare facilities.Small motor skills required for operating modern computer, office, and telephone equipment as utilized by Memorial Healthcare (MHC).Ability to exert manual effort in transporting materials, equipment and/or patients.Ability to perform moderate amounts of walking, stretching and bending.
