Job Details
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Medical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. This is a permanent, full-time position in which the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing high-quality patient care. The Medical Assistant will work closely with healthcare professionals in a fast-paced environment to ensure that patients receive the best possible care. This role requires a strong commitment to community health and primary care, as well as a deep understanding of the duties and responsibilities of a medical assistant.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist physicians and nurses in examining and treating patients, including preparing patients for examination, recording vital signs, and updating medical records.
2. Perform routine laboratory tests and administrative tasks such as answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, and maintaining medical records.
3. Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients.
4. Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies.
5. Perform basic first aid and CPR, administer medications as directed by a physician, and assist in minor surgery.
6. Coordinate with pharmacies for proper medication distribution and with diagnostic centers for patient referrals.
7. Support patient care delivery by helping healthcare providers during examinations and treatments, charting patient information, and organizing the clinical environment.
8. Promote patient's independence by establishing patient care goals, teaching patient to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills.
9. Advocate for patient's needs and liaise with community resources to provide relevant services.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar role.
2. Certification from an accredited Medical Assisting Program.
3. Knowledge of medical terminology, regulations, and medical office procedures; and the ability to apply this knowledge in practice.
4. Proficiency in community health and primary care.
5. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals.
6. Strong organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
7. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
8. Current CPR certification.
9. Proficiency in electronic medical records software.
10. Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment, and to maintain composure in difficult situations.
