About the Job
Candidates need to be made aware that this is an adult prison system even though it is a hospital. Their work attire is to be dressed in scrubs at all times.
Medical Assistants perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly. The duties of Medical Assistants may vary from setting to setting and unit to unit depending on the size, location, and type. In addition to administrative duties, Medical Assistants perform clinical duties as well, you may be asked to cover units that are short staffed.
Common responsibilities of Medical Assistants include (but are not limited to):
Administrative: Answers phones, maintains supplies and equipment, performs computer skills duties such as data entry, assists medical staff with admissions and discharges and performs other position-related duties as assigned.

" Preparing patients for examinations
" Assisting the physician during examinations
" Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens
" Performing basic laboratory tests
" Preparing and administering medications, including by intramClientular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections including vaccinations/immunizations
" Phlebotomy
" Taking EKG's
" Wound care and changing dressings.
" Answer call lights
" Answer phone
" Updating patient file

" Suture removal
Clean/straighten exam rooms (Zone B)
Safety Checks in Fusion
Measure, Obtain and Perform data entry of:
1. Vitals (B/P, Temp, HR, Resp., O2)
2. Finger Sticks
3. Height
4. Weight
5. EKG s
6. Lab tests (COVID-19 swabs)
7. Spin samples (Centrifuge)
8. Scan documents into patient files
Record patient data from listed items above into Fusion.
Patient support / family: The ability to connect and empathize with patients is necessary to provide quality care and clinical service.
Assist the nurses in getting patients ready for their Tele-med appointments.
1. Inform RN of appointment at the beginning of the shift.
2. Obtain vitals, a copy of the Kardex, and medical chart if needed.
3. Use NSG-Tele-med form in fusion for the vitals.
