Responsibilities and Duties
The Medical Assistant provides support to our prescribers by collecting vital information from individuals, assisting with the prescription process, providing injections, and coordinating medical records as needed.

Responsibilities and Duties
- Prior Authorizations: process in a timely manner. Work with prescriber and insurance companies to ensure individuals receive appropriate approval for medications.
- Medical records: Support the medical records clerk in responding to requests for medical records in a timely manner.
- Administration of medications: ensure proper storage and tracking of all medications, including sample medications. Maintain accurate medication log. Adhere to procedure for medication distribution and storage. Administer medications according to manufacturer’s indications. Document all medications provided to individuals in electronic health record.
- Vital signs: take vital signs for each individual. Communicate results to prescriber and indicate any abnormal findings. Record vital signs in electronic health record.
- Maintain proper correspondence: check printer, scans, faxes, mail on regular interval to retrieve correspondence and distribute as appropriate.
- Medical waste: ensure medical waste disposal is emptied regularly and that medical waste bins are being used appropriately (i.e.: containing no non-medical waste).
- Assist individuals with prescription needs, including filling prescriptions for non-controlled medications.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Required Experience
- At least 2 years experience in a healthcare setting.
- Experience with an electronic health record preferred.
Required Education
High School Diploma
Required Qualifications
Medical Assistant Certification Preferred (Certified Nursing Assistant Certification will be considered)
