Effective April 1, 2024 and expires December 1, 2024. Applicable only for MA & MOS positions in the Centers of Excellence and Maryland Family Care practices, of which this role applies to.
The MOS provides Front/Back office duties to various providers in an outpatient setting. Open to individuals who have finished their Medical Assistant (MA) program. Additionally, the MOS demonstrates competency in applying these principles when providing individualized care to specific patients. Assists the MD/NP/PA in performing procedures. Operates, maintains and calibrates all equipment.
Responsibilities:Front Office Duties:
- Greet patients in a courteous and friendly manner, providing a welcoming atmosphere.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments and provedures
- Verify patient insurance information and collect co-pays or fees as needed.
- Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and provide information to patients and other callers.
- Complete patient check-in and check-out processes
Back Office Duties:
- Take patient vital signs, record medical histories, and update electronic health records (EHR).
- Administer injections and immunizations as directed by healthcare providers. (on-site training provided)
- Perform basic laboratory tests, including specimen collection and processing.
- Provide patient education and instructions as directed by healthcare providers.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Education and Work Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- A minimum of one year experience, preferrably in a medical office setting.

- Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following:
- Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel
- Microsoft Outlook
- Meditech (if applicable to position)
- Epic (if applicable to position)
- Performance Manager/NetLearning
- Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
- Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Other Requirements:
- May be required to travel to satellite offices.
