Medical Assistant- ASU Providence (20 hours)
Schedule: Mon-Fri (Days)
Location: Providence, RI
Community Care Alliance is seeking a Part-time, 20-hour Medical Assistant (MA) for the Acute Stabilization (ASU). The ASU is an innovative, trauma-informed, 16-bed inpatient behavioral health crisis unit.
MA Roles/responsibilities will include:
- Obtaining client vital signs.
- Ensuring adequate stock and supply of medications and medical equipment, in partnership with the unit's administrative coordinator and nursing team .
- Creating, implementing, and monitoring organizational systems for the nursing team .
- Managing referral processes to include: maintaining a referral spreadsheet, coordinating client transfer with referral sources, and overseeing admission processes with the behavioral health worker team .
- Obtaining prior authorization on medications .
- Collaborating with the case manager to ensure clients secure medical discharge appointments .
- Ensuring the client "bed boards" and censuses are accurate and updated .
- Other administrative, secretarial, and client care duties as assigned .
Requirements:
- MA certification or CNA
- Minimum one year experience in behavioral health
- Clerical/administrative experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to handle crisis situations and interface with clients and colleagues in a calm, trauma-informed, and responsible manner
