About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Medical Surgical (MedSurg) **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 8-hour evenings, 12-hour evenings (3 PM - 11 PM) **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum of 2 years **License:** Required **Certifications:** BLS (AHA) **Must-Have:** - Telemetry background - Neuro/spine experience - Knowledge of precautions with moving and bracing - IV skills (no IV team available) - Ability to titrate drips **Job Description:** - 48-bed unit providing care for patients with common diagnoses such as ETOH, drug abuse, pneumonia, COPD, CHF, DKA, homelessness, neuro/spine issues, trauma, ortho, and COVID. - Perform central line dressing changes and wound vacuum procedures. - Mix medications on the unit and receive training for the same. - Required to perform titration for specified drips such as Heparin, PCA, and epidural; other drips such as insulin, cardizem may require patient transfer. - Charge nurse available on all shifts who will take a modified assignment if necessary. - Nursing aid support provided with ratios: 5 on days/evenings and 4 at night. - Use of CPAP, BiPAP, HFNC, Trachs equipment on the unit. - RNs required to run and verify tele strips at the beginning of shifts and every 4 hours; must be proficient in identifying lethal arrhythmias. - Shifts follow a 12-hour, 6-week self-scheduling pattern; flexibility required to rotate between days/nights with appropriate time off between shifts. - Every other weekend work required with each rotation. - Flexible holiday work requirements with no obligation to work every holiday. - Floating to similar units as needed and integrated into the permanent staff rotation. - Dress code allows any professional colors or designs without revealing attire; long hair should be tied back, and no dangling jewelry. - Unit-specific orientation includes 2-3 shifts on the unit with a preceptor and 4 hours with the educator for additional training. - Familiarity with the Allscripts - Sunrise 6.1 charting system preferred.
