About The Position
**Job Title**: Clinical Nurse II **Profession**: Nursing **Specialty**: General **Duration**: 13 weeks **Shift**: Days **Hours per Shift**: 12 **Experience**: One year of nursing experience **License**: Licensed Registered Nurse in North Carolina **Certifications**: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) **Must-Have**: Nursing Diploma or ADN/ASN from an accredited school of Nursing **Description**: The Clinical Nurse II provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting. **Essential Duties**: - Participate in identifying and meeting learning needs of oneself. - Attend educational programs based on identified learning needs. - Use patient education materials relevant to the patient population. - Assess readiness to learn of the patient/family/caregivers. - Assess developmental level of the patient and factors affecting the ability to learn. - Identify expected patient outcomes. - Seek guidance as needed in the revision of the plan of care. - Participate in discussion with members of the interdisciplinary team in evaluating patient care. - Communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care. - Demonstrate competence in the care of patients with complex problems, including population-appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care. - Perform bedside point of care testing as required for the patient care plan. - Utilize organizational and nursing standards, policies, and procedures in the delivery of care. - Organize and prioritize care according to patient/family needs. - Consult with appropriate resources regarding patients with complex care issues, unusual teaching needs, and those at high risk for discharge planning. - Develop goals to promote professional growth or minimize limitations with assistance. - Achieve goals and objectives within an identified time frame or renegotiate with supervisor. - Be knowledgeable about activities facilitating intra/interdepartmental collaboration. - Participate in the development and achievement of unit goals and performance improvement activities. - Utilize effective communication systems. - Promote cost-effective care. - Provide feedback to coworkers. - Be aware of public policy and regulatory guidelines affecting healthcare. - Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment for all. - Recognize data from complex situations to determine priorities for care. - Include appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs in assessment. - Synthesize assessment data into a meaningful whole prior to communication to others. - Assess and anticipate discharge needs of individual patients and families. - Develop relationships with families that promote their ability to advocate for the patient and their own needs. - Collaborate with the patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care. - Make use of available multidisciplinary resources in planning care. - Use a full range of communication to convey planning. - Identify and address cultural and ethnic issues in planning patient care. - Demonstrate ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems. - Read journals that contain studies or articles that may be applicable to practice. - Bring ideas and questions to the staff for assessment of applicability.
