A global automotive company is seeking a Mechanical Test Engineer to join our Reliability Department, focusing on testing and evaluating vehicle components to ensure the structural integrity of new models throughout their lifecycle. This hands-on role involves developing test plans, conducting and overseeing tests, analyzing results, and presenting findings. The ideal candidate has at least two years of experience in strength and fatigue testing, is proactive, and excels in communication and collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement test plans and procedures to confirm the structural reliability of vehicle components, sub-assemblies, and complete systems.
- Conduct and oversee component-level testing, including strength and fatigue tests on assemblies such as suspension and pedal systems.
- Prepare and set up test equipment, including assembly and lab setups for components and vehicle subsystems.
- Monitor tests, analyze results, and summarize findings, ensuring accuracy and thorough documentation.
- Present findings and recommendations to technical teams, providing clear and actionable insights.
- Collaborate with technical experts to manage part production, resolve design challenges, and propose countermeasures.
- Support cross-functional collaboration with factories and teams to align testing strategies with production needs.
- Adjust tasks flexibly to meet the evolving needs of the development schedule.
Required Skillset:
- At least 2+ years of test engineering experience, including strength and fatigue testing.
- Proficiency in CATIA V5 (experience with V6 is a plus) and simulation software like ANSYS.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 Suite, including PowerPoint, Excel, and SharePoint.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and detail-oriented approach.
- Effective communication and presentation skills to convey technical findings clearly.
- Experience with industrial engineering or factory collaboration.
- Ability to manage testing projects independently and take ownership of tasks.
- Flexibility and adaptability to shift priorities based on project demands.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Bonus Skillset:
- Previous experience in an R&D environment.
